Course Description:

If there’s one thing we know, there are no two organizations who are the same which means how you fundraise and communicate with your donors and followers during Arizona Gives is different as well. This is your opportunity to ask your peers your most pressing questions. 

In this Arizona Gives roundtable discussion we will review how each nonprofit’s campaigns are created, how they’ve engage donors through email and social, how they may have utilized board members or fundraiser pages, how they’ve utilized the toolkit, and which campaign tactics worked best for the organizations.

Learning Objectives:

In this session, participants will:

  • Ideas on how to develop, create, and plan your own Arizona Gives campaign
  • Ideas on how to engage donors to reach donation goals
  • Ideas on how to involve staff and board members
  • Ideas on how to utilize the Arizona Gives Toolkit
  • Best practices for online fundraising campaigns

Hopi Foundation (The)


Cody Honani, Tsutanpii (Hopi name meaning Tobacco Pipe Cleaner), is a Hopi/Tewa tribal member from the Village of Tewa in Polacca, AZ on the Hopi reservation. He currently serves as the Development Manager for the nonprofit organization, The Hopi Foundation (HF), based in Kykotsmovi, AZ. Cody has spent the majority of his working career in the customer service field, developing skills in the areas of effective communication, quality assurance, data analysis, creative solutions, flexibility, adaptability, efficient productivity, advanced software utilization, and customer empathy. The summer of 2020 was the start of Cody's exploration into the grassroots and nonprofit world. He began volunteering his time with various emergency relief distributions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including The Hopi Foundation's emergency relief team under its Hopi Emergency Relief Fund (HERF). He served as a Crew Member and eventually took leadership as the Relief Site Manager for HERF. Cody is now leading the development department of The Hopi Foundation, gaining knowledge and experience about fundraising, donor engagement, donor stewardship, philanthropy and finding growth in the nonprofit sector.

An innovative and collaborative leader who is an out-of-the-box thinker with 20 years of experience in building and reviving non-profit organizations and 15 years in growing county and state programs in Cooperative Extension all focused on the needs of the county or organization. Deborah is the  current Development Coordinator for 4-H Youth Foundation. During her time at 4-H she has increased funding from Board to 4-H programs by over 1000% in the last three years, has managed $2.7 million in investments with 64 endowments and annual budget of $432,500. Deb has also brought back donors from 11 years ago who quit donating to Foundation and increased their giving.
