Description

Angela Palmer, from the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, and Brandy Petrone, from Goodman Schwartz Public Affairs, discuss using social media as a tool for your advocacy. Social media has taken a more prominent role in advocacy in all levels of government, but the COVID-19 pandemic has forced its use as a virtual advocacy tool. It is important that we continue to adapt our advocacy efforts for nonprofits in impactful ways. Today, almost all elected officials use social media as a platform to communicate with their constituents. Nonprofits need to become more comfortable with the use of social media like Facebook and Twitter to communicate with elected officials. The goal of this training: -Most people know how to use social media as a personal platform - how do we use it for advocacy? -Discuss creating accounts for your organization (if they do not exist). -Best practices for respectful and effective social media communications. -How social media can be another tool in the advocacy toolbox.
