Grantmaker Memberships

As a member of AZ Impact for Good (formerly Arizona Grantmakers Forum), you join a group of engaged, committed philanthropists working together to improve our community. AZ Impact for Good members have access to an extensive array of member benefits, resources and services. All members, regardless of size, gain access to engage with the social sector and be a part of the AZ Impact for Good network and offerings.

Grantmaker Membership investments are calculated based on total philanthropic expenditures made in Arizona during your last fiscal year. Membership is for one full year from the date an organization joins.

Please note: To better represent the diverse nature of our grantmaking members, membership categories are based on the greater of philanthropic expenditures (grants plus other direct program expenditures) or 5% of total assets. Call AZ Impact for Good with any questions regarding investments.

For the purposes of completing Forms 990 and 990-pf, all membership investments more than $620 minimum may reasonably be reported as a grant rather than an administrative cost.

Grantmaker Membership Types:

Single-Source & Operating Foundations
- Single-Source and Operating Foundations are defined as 501(c)(3) organizations that both fundraise and provide grants/funding.
  - Single-Source Foundations can make grants to their own organization only or to their own organization as well as for charitable purposes.
  - Operating Foundations make grants for charitable purposes only.
- To make membership affordable for organizations of every size, annual dues for this membership category are based on either an organization’s total philanthropic expenditures (grants plus other direct program expenditures) in the prior fiscal year in Arizona or 5% of total assets (whichever is greater).
Private & Community Foundations; Corporate Funders
- Private and Community Foundations are defined as 501(c)(3) organizations that make grants for charitable purposes.
- Corporate Funders are defined as businesses that support the community through grantmaking or sponsorship or private foundations whose assets are derived primarily from the contributions of a for-profit organization for grantmaking or sponsorship.
- To make membership affordable for organizations of every size, annual dues for this membership category are based on either an organization’s total philanthropic expenditures (grants plus other direct program expenditures) in the prior fiscal year in Arizona or 5% of total assets (whichever is greater).
